”This is What it Means”

 ”This is What it Means”

Danny Gokey

I’ve built some dreams; I’ve held them close
Celebrate perfect days
I lost the one I loved the most
Now she’s six foot earth away
I’ve cried. ‘til I through I couldn’t stop
And I’ve laughed until it hurt
And I’ve prayed in an empty parking lot
And my friends were my church

Sometimes the joy can give you wings to fly
Sometimes the pain cuts your soul just like a knife
There’s fear there’s faith, there’s lost, there’s grace
I’ve seen it from both sides
This is what it means to be alive, alive
This is what it means to be alive

I’ve seen the face; I’ve held the head
Of a child without a home
A casualty of circumstance
Written off and all alone
I’ve cried for the wars that they’ve been
Through and I’ve walked by their side
I’ve watched what the power of love can do
And how it changes lives

Sometimes the joy can give you wings to fly
Sometimes the pain cuts your soul just like a knife
There’s fear there’s faith, there’s lost, there’s grace
I’ve seen it from both sides
This is what it means to be alive, alive
This is what it means to be alive

This is what it means
This is what it means
This is what it means to be alive, alive
This is what it means, yeah

Sometimes the joy can give you wings to fly
Sometimes the pain cuts your soul just like a knife
There’s fear there’s faith, there’s lost, there’s grace
I’ve seen it from both sides
This is what it means to be alive, alive
This is what it means to be alive

This is what it means to be alive

Bible Verses

For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.   1  You have searched me,  Lord ,      and you know me.   2  You know when I sit and when I rise;      you perceive my thoughts from afar.   3  You discern my going out and my lying down;      you are familiar with all my ways.   4  Before a word is on my tongue      you,  Lord , know it completely.   5  You hem me in behind and before,      and you lay your hand upon me.   6  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,      too lofty for me to attain.   7  Where can I go from your Spirit?      Where can I flee from your presence?   8  If I go up to the heavens, you are there;      if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.   9  If I rise on the ...
